How much yoga experience do I need to attend a retreat?

No previous experience required! All of my retreats are totally accessible to the beginner. The joy is in the journey. There are some retreats more yoga heavy, and some more yoga light. Experienced yogis will be able to find their own level of challenge and engagement as well! Reach out to May with any concerns or questions — she will guide you to the retreat that best suits your interests and skill level.

Who are these retreats for?

Humans, taking time out for some self-care. Whether you are in the mountains backpacking with me, on the back of a dog sled, or practicing at the orchard bathed in Arizona sun — attending a Yoga Untamed retreat is a commitment to love yourself just a little bit more. Reconnect with your body, your mind, and the world around you.

What style of yoga do you teach?

During retreats, we will delve into daily meditation, a vinyasa flow (accessible to all levels), and nightly yoga nidra. There are some retreats more "yoga-heavy," and some more "yoga-light." Reach out to May with any concerns or questions — she will guide you to the retreat that best suits your interests and skill level.

What should I pack for a yoga retreat?

Depending on the retreat, your travel items will vary. Each retreat will have a specific packing list which we’ll send you once you register.

Always Bring:

  • Enthusiasm and Open Mind :)

  • Water Bottle

  • Yoga mat (if you own one)

  • Flexible clothing (for yoga. Could be your long underwear or your hiking clothes. DON’T go buy NEW just for the retreat!)

  • Journal

  • Musical instrument (optional, but encouraged!)

  • Clothing for the specific retreat

  • Foot attire specific for the retreat

  • Any other gear specific for the retreat

Do I have to participate in everything on the schedule?

No. Your retreat is just that; YOUR retreat. We will provide activities to facilitate physical/mental/ emotional growth in the great outdoors. You are expected to know what your own body needs (including rest or solo-time) and make accommodations accordingly.

What do I need to expect or pack for mushing retreats?

We will send out a gear list for each retreat. Our partners at the Mushing Co-Op also have great resources on frequently asked questions specific to dog sledding retreat locations, clothing recommendations, and more.

“A total immersion experience that supported the unique beauty of each person... from the thoughtful and delicious food menus to the varied natural environments used for our practice. An unconditional welcoming into the circle by our wonderful instructors felt like a true honoring of some of us who were the "older ones" ... An acknowledgment of the benefits of life's experiences, past, present and those yet to come. Very tuned in instructors...loving, perceptive, and always sensitively responsive”

— J. Jones Huntley, Yoga Untamed retreat attendee
