What to expect:

The nature of travelling in Alaska does require a certain degree of flexibility, so while you will receive a formal itinerary, we ask that you arrive with an open mind. If weather, animals or conditions warrant a shift in our outlined plan we will do our best to communicate to our group with as much notice as possible.

After booking you’ll receive a more detailed itinerary and packing list. We will continue to provide trip details and help you prepare in the months leading up to our adventure.

Where will we backpack:

We will be hiking and backpacking in Hatcher Pass (the southern Talkeetna Mountains). We will pick our route in the weeks leading up to our departure date based on conditions and group dynamics. We realize this may be frustrating from a planning perspective, but ask that you come with an open mind. The nature of backcountry Alaska travel requires flexibility both before and during a trip.

Questions?

July 20: Morning pick up in downtown Anchorage and departure for the wilderness. We will head to Palmer, Alaska for a review of our route, plan, safety details and then head to our trailhead. Our exact backpacking location and route will be determined closer to our trip date as we weigh in group dynamics, current conditions, etc. We’ll depart for the backcountry in the evening, set up and camp, eat dinner under the midnight sun and do some mindful evening yoga before we hit the hay.

July 21: On Day 2 we’ll get an early start with some morning sun salutations and follow up with a hearty breakfast. After a safety brief we’ll depart for the Alaska backcountry. Expect to hike 3-5 hours over uneven terrain. We’ll stop for a lunch and yoga break midday before making our way towards our camping location. Once at our stopping point for the day we’ll set up camp, eat a warm dinner and enjoy some evening meditation.

July 22: Will follow a similar pattern of yoga, hiking, quiet moments in the wilderness and hearty meals. We’ll depart the backcountry and head to town for a fresh evening meal. We plan to return to Anchorage no later than 5PM on this day. We recommend continuing your travel plans or heading home on July 23.
